Sustainable Streetscape & Ball Park

Our front landscape is now complete! The mix of native and seasonal plantings will continue to mature over the next few years. Features include Rudbeckia, Echinacea and Coreopsis. The Ball Park courtyard showcases combination containers for sun and shade using a wide variety of annual flowers, foliage plants, tropicals, ferns and succulents.

Garden Gateway & Plaza

The main entrance to the Gardens – featuring the new 'Carousel of Color' – and the Plaza display an array of stunning new varieties. This is one location you won't want to miss!

Carl & Vivian’s Garden & Pavilion

This beautiful area with serene pools and a pavilion is dedicated to second-generation leader Carl Ball and his wife Vivian Elledge Ball. Burpee Home Gardens® varieties are showcased in the beds and containers. The Pavilion features the Woolly Pocket Modular Living Wall System planted with colorful tropicals and annuals.

Carl & Vivian’s Woodlands

The largest area in our gardens features meandering paths that take you past shade-loving perennials and annuals.

Central Park

This newly designed area shines the spotlight on popular Echinaceas.

Sun Container Showcase

Enjoy hundreds of single-variety containers and baskets for full-sun conditions from many of our Ball Seed suppliers. Featured classes include Angelonia, Calibrachoa, Petunia, Lantana and Verbena.

Skyframe Garden

Made with Wave™ combinations – featuring many of our Wave Spreading Petunias in 5 colorful patterns – are growing overhead on the 17 individual arbors in this unique garden.

Comparison Garden Extension

Annual and vegetable comparisons and the All-America Selections (AAS) trial are planted here. New for this year is the Cut Flower Garden, featuring varieties ideally suited for either commercial production or home gardens.

The Windings

Follow this gradual incline to the highest point in The Gardens at Ball and enjoy the panoramic view. Annuals and perennials are featured, including exciting 2014 introductions.

Perennials Trial Garden & Geranium Trials

An extensive selection of genetics including Darwin Perennials and Kieft Seed varieties are displayed and evaluated in this garden. You'll also find the Geranium Container Trial located along the sidewalk featuring several new series from Ball FloraPlant and Selecta.

Ball Ornamentals Display Garden

Expanded for 2013, this area features unique trees and shrubs available from Ball Ornamentals. The new deck exhibits non-hardy species in containers. Be sure to stroll through our new 'Wave Tunnel,' displaying drapes of stunning Wave™ spreading petunias across the bridge.

PanAmerican Seed Gardens

This all-new display for 2013 features the newest and best varieties from one of our seed breeding companies.

Ball FloraPlant & Selecta Container Showcase

Hundreds of containers in sun and shade highlight varieties from our two vegetative (cutting-grown) breeders. The Vertical Wall has a new look for this year – garden art surrounded by colorful plants!

Comparison Garden

Compare new and existing varieties in traditional row trial style. Highlighted classes include Begonia, Celosia, Zinnia, Marigold, Geranium, Petunia, Portulaca, Salvia and Vinca.

Hillside Garden

The 38 permanent containers show off unique combinations of annual flowering and foliage plants, vines, ornamental grasses and edibles. Be sure to view this garden from above and below for different perspectives!

Shade Container Showcase

Our Shade Container area highlights alternatives to Impatiens walleriana, including shade-loving New Guinea Impatiens, Begonias, Caladiums and Tropicals. You’ll also find popular Wave™ Spreading Petunias and varieties from our Ball Ingenuity program along the sunny front edge.

Cottage Garden & Heritage Gallery

Enjoy your time in our “Burpee Backyard,” where you’ll meet several new and exclusive Burpee Home Gardens™ varieties. The air-conditioned Cottage showcases our Heritage Gallery, a historical display of Ball memorabilia.
